UTA Center for Research on Teaching and Learning Excellence (CRTLE) 

The CRTLE mission is to engage faculty in research-based practices that innovate and enhance their teaching, resulting in clear and measurable advances in student learning. The Center remains at the cutting edge of teaching and learning advances in online and on-campus environments to address the deep structured, logical thinking, intellectual, social, and emotional needs of students in today’s technological world. The Center’s goal is to prepare and advance university teaching so that each UTA student is highly prepared for the workplace of the future.

The primary goals of CRTLE are:

  • Providing positive support for teaching, and inspiring and empowering faculty dedicated to ensuring all students learn successfully.
  • Collaborating with faculty across campus on research and grants, emphasizing the exploration and application of innovative and evidence-based teaching and learning practices.
  • Promoting experiential learning by engaging faculty in implementing the Maverick Advantage high-impact teaching practices: Community Engagement, Undergraduate Research, Career Development, Global Engagement, and Leadership Development.

The Open Educational Resources (OER) team supports educators in identifying, using, customizing, creating, and publishing teaching and learning materials available at no cost to UTA students. OER are free resources that are licensed to allow for revision and reuse. They can be fully self-contained textbooks, videos, quizzes, learning modules, courseware, and more. Use of OER can improve student engagement and success; provide immediate, equitable, and perpetual access to resources; save money for students; and empower educators to maximize flexible, high-quality learning materials in individualized curricula.

OER services include:

  • Financial support via UTA CARES Grant Program
  • Assistance locating and evaluating OER
  • Publishing platform with robust technical support
  • Training, OER presentations, and individualized consultations
  • Optional print services
  • Content migration
  • Copyright and licensing assistance
  • Preservation, metadata, and indexing

Cal Poly Center for Teaching, Learning & Technology (CTLT)

The Center for Teaching, Learning & Technology is Cal Poly’s teaching support team serving the entire campus. Our purpose is to provide all Cal Poly educators with the information and support they need to develop the skills and knowledge to enhance their journey toward teaching excellence.

The CTLT is committed to helping faculty create equitable and inclusive learning environments for the students at Cal Poly. The center provides guidance in course design, learning activities and teaching strategies that incorporate best practices in accessibility, equity and inclusion.

It provides a broad range of programming and services in support of Cal Poly’s “Learn By Doing” philosophy that addresses the complexities and challenges of an ever changing world. Jenifer Reiner

Jenifer Reiner, AICP, CNU-A, CFM

Jenifer is a highly committed urban planner who has demonstrated her dedication to the field through both her professional practice and educational pursuits. She has an extensive background as the lead planner for various community development projects and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. while also serving as an instructor at the University of Texas at Arlington. Her research is focused on addressing complex urban challenges, with a special emphasis on regulatory environments and housing issues.

Jason C. Hogue, Ph.D.

Lecturer, Department of English, College of Liberal Arts, UTA

Jason hold a PhD in English literature from UT-Arlington. His focuses are Early Modern/Renaissance literature, Medieval literature, and Ecocriticism/Eco-theory. Jason is especially interested in literary representations of forest spaces, the concept of wilderness, and vegetal agency. He is also interested in outlaw literature, notably the early songs and stories of Robin Hood.
